I have been seriously itching to take downtown Portland engagement photos, and Molly and Adam finally gave me the dreamy experience I craved! Funny story about these two, but originally we were supposed to go to the Oregon Coast for their engagement photos. The forecast changed on a dime (typical Oregon weather) and we decided to make a quick switch to Northwest Portland. These two live super close to where we shot and so it was fun to run around the area they were familiar with.
After the session was done, I encouraged Molly and Adam to go on a date! One of my favorite pieces of advice to couples for their engagement photos is to either get a drink, dinner or dessert after their photos! You’re already all dressed up and just spent an hour or two kissing, cuddling and having fun. So why not continue with a sweet date? Obviously I would have LOVED to crash it and be a third wheel, but I had to head to the coast after their session and stay at the hotel I made a reservation for. The next day I was shooting a wedding so it made sense to spend the night there!
Downtown Portland can be a little overwhelming when planning your engagement photos, so here is some advice on where to start:
- Browse around on google maps! You can usually see a live view of some buildings and that can help you get a good idea if you are wanting to take your pictures there.
- If you are working with me, and want downtown Portland engagement photos I will offer you a few suggestions and show you photos or give you an idea of the vibe if you want.
- Northwest Portland has a lot of beautiful brick buildings which is one of my favorite places to go. The area off I-5 and Alberta offers a lot of really awesome backdrops! There is a bridal shop called A and Be (one of my favorites) in this area as well! If you are a coffee lover, you should check out Proud Mary. Salt and Straw and Ecovibe (my favorite plant store) are also on this street!
