Hoyt Arboretum is one of my favorite places to celebrate an engagement
I had such an amazing time at this Hoyt Arboretum engagement session with Cydney and Brett! One of my favorite places in all of Portland, often called a hidden gem, is the Redwood Deck. This trail, tucked away in Portland’s Forest Park, is a short walk with a large reward.
Here’s the best time to visit Hoyt Arboretum for photos
I’ve taken photos in this gorgeous spot countless times and in many seasons over the years. My favorite time of year to take photos in this spot is the spring or summer, when the area is lush and green. In the wintertime it is more likely that there will be lots of rain, creating muddy trails. This can lead to muddy shoes, dresses and long pants! I’m all for braving rainy weather, but if your session can wait until a sunnier day, everyone will be happier!
More on the engagement session and dreamy couple
Cydney and Brett got engaged this past October on a beach in Bandon, Oregon. “It was an early morning with cotton candy skies” Cydney told me. The two love to adventure together; Cydney has a passion for skiing and Brett joins her often. It was a joy getting to know them both before the session and while on our hike out to the Redwood Deck. They are planning a magical wedding this fall and I cannot wait to see the details from it!
