Eclectic & Whimsical Wedding at The Griffin House | Oregon

January 19, 2026

If you’re dreaming of a Griffin House wedding in Oregon that feels creative, colorful, and completely personal, Callie and Michael’s September celebration is full of inspiration. Set high above the Columbia River Gorge, their wedding blended eclectic design elements with soft, whimsical details. Who says that a wedding can’t be playful and elevated all at once?

With bright florals, disco ball accents, stunning views of the Columbia River Gorge, and a day centered around meaningful experiences with their closest friends, this Griffin House wedding felt joyful from start to finish.

An Eclectic, Colorful Vision at The Griffin House

Callie and Michael leaned fully into a design that felt true to them—fun, vibrant, and highlighting their fur babies at home. Their color palette featured bright pinks, oranges, and yellows, setting a lively tone that carried through every part of the day.

Callie wore a shimmering, strapless glitter ball gown by Maggie Sottero Designs, a dress that caught the light beautifully and felt perfectly suited for a day filled with movement and celebration. Some of my favorite photos from the day are the ones with direct flash, showcasing just how sparkly her dress was! Michael wore a soft green suit, a standout choice that complemented the colorful design while still feeling timeless.

Ceremony with Columbia River Gorge Views

The ceremony took place at The Griffin House, one of Oregon’s most iconic venues overlooking the Columbia River Gorge. The views from the ceremony space were nothing short of breathtaking—rolling hills, dramatic cliffs, and the river stretching endlessly in the distance. Some of my favorite shots of the Griffin House on a wedding day are taken from the second story window – where you can see just how incredible the view is.

September brought strong winds that day, adding movement and energy to the photos. Callie’s veil flowing in the wind added extra drama to the pictures that I was here for!

A Wedding Day Centered on Community

Rather than having a traditional wedding party, Callie and Michael chose to invite their closest friends and family to be part of the getting ready process, creating a relaxed, intimate start to the day. This approach allowed the morning to feel calm, joyful, and deeply personal—focused on connection rather than formality. We spent a few minutes taking some group photos before the ceremony, but nothing overkill! Just fun vibes only! It was a beautiful reminder that wedding days don’t need to follow tradition to feel meaningful.

Whimsical Reception Details & Disco Ball Fun

The reception design blended eclectic and whimsical elements seamlessly. Disco balls added sparkle and personality, while custom signs featuring their cats, signature cocktails, and a photo booth with custom props brought in playful, personal touches.

Soft pastel napkins and bud vases filled with bouncy, light florals balanced the bold colors, keeping the overall design airy and refined. The result was a reception space that felt joyful and intentional without ever feeling overdone.

Live Music, Dancing, and an Unforgettable Dessert Table

Cocktail hour featured a live guitarist, setting a relaxed, romantic tone before the evening transitioned into dancing. Later in the night, the guitarist switched to DJing, keeping the dance floor full as the celebration continued.

One of the standout details of the entire day was the dessert table, featuring a massive table of desserts from Papa Haydn in Portland. Mini cakes, pastries, and sweets filled the table, giving guests endless options—though the mini cakes were an absolute favorite.

As a final touch, espresso martinis were served as dessert, the perfect late-night pick-me-up before more dancing.

Why The Griffin House Is Perfect for a Columbia River Gorge Wedding

Callie and Michael’s wedding is a perfect example of how this venue shines when paired with thoughtful design and a strong creative vision.
