Out of all the beach locations for engagement photos, Cape Kiwanda is definitely one of my favorites. This beautiful spot on the Oregon coast is popular for photography and has always been a couples’ top choice.
Jayvon and Evan were part of my Instagram giveaway I announced in November. They are planning a beautiful wedding this fall in their hometown of Lincoln City, Oregon. Living on the Oregon coast, it was an easy choice to pick Cape Kiwanda as the spot for their engagement photos.
I had an amazing Friday afternoon with them, hiking up the Cape and taking some gorgeous photos up top, then making our way back down. We finished with some beautiful low tide photos on the rocks and then headed back to our cars. Since COVID still is shutting businesses down except takeout, we didn’t have a chance to grab a drink at Pelican Brewery. Pelican is one of my favorite spots located right next to Cape Kiwanda and has awesome drinks and food!
During their engagement photos, I completely melted over Evan’s very clear adoration of his future wife. I was stunned by Jayvon’s beautiful smile especially, and Evan was quick to agree and hype her up. He told me that the moment she said “I love you” he thought his heart would fall right out of his chest. There was no shortage of kisses, tight hugs and longing looks during their session. Even from spending an hour together, I know that they are perfect for each other and am so happy for them.
Cape Kiwanda Information
Cape Kiwanda is a stunning spot for engagement photos on the beach, but you definitely want to beware of high tide dangers. The Oregon national parks website states that it is dangerous to be up on the cliffs, especially at high tide. You will want to avoid those areas so you do not get knocked off any rocks by a wave. Believe me, it can happen!
If you are trying to plan Cape Kiwanda engagement photos, you should check out the website on Oregon State parks for more information on this location. You should also reach out to me because I would absolutely love to take your photos! Let’s celebrate your special day with a sunset and some waves.
Read their engagement story below:
“We have been engaged for 1 year and together for 5 ! Last year on our anniversary we drove to Portland (we live on the Oregon coast) to do a date and dinner. We went to an arcade and played some games for a little while. Before dinner he said he wanted to go see the sunset. We went Rocky Butte viewpoint. It was so cold and so windy but he insisted on going up to watch the sun go down and take some pictures. I had a feeling the proposal was going to happen so I went with it. After a bit of picture taking together he said he wanted to get some of me alone. I was looking out across the city with my back turned to him and when I turned around there he was on one knee ! Of course I said yes. We stood in the cold crying, hugging and kissing lol. We went to a beautiful dinner right after. It was an amazing night”
Thank you again to Jayvon and Evan for the best afternoon and for being perfect models! Congratulations on winning my giveaway and of course for your engagement!
