Very excited to finally be blogging this La Jolla Wedding at La Valencia from December! Vanessa and Brad were originally set to be married here in December of 2020, but due to everybody’s least favorite part of that year, we had to postpone it to 2021. They had an intimate destination wedding with just their closest friends and family, saying “I Do” in front of the Pacific Ocean and partying all night long.
La Valencia hotel is an unmatched location for your wedding photos – providing oceanfront views at their outdoor terrace and stunning ballrooms for your wedding reception. This was my first time seeing this venue and I was blown away with its beauty and the space was stunning!
We started the day getting some detail shots of Vanessa getting ready with her bridesmaids in the bridal suite, just next to the Veranda Room where the reception would be hosted. Her makeup was being done by Karly while her friends Bailie and Sarah worked their hair magic on the rest of her bridesmaid group! I really loved their flannel getting ready PJs and thought they were a nice touch for a December wedding!
While Vanessa got her finishing touches done, we snuck upstairs to get a few photos of Brad getting ready. The groom suite he got ready in (where they both stayed the night before) had incredible window lighting! This is super important for when you are getting ready in a hotel. Most hotels have limited window lighting and awful yellow walls, but not here! La Valencia had big windows and white walls, creating the perfect environment to capture the getting ready photos.
Their ceremony was stunning, with only about 30 guests in attendance it was the perfect amount for their oceanfront terrace. Vanessa and Brad said “I Do” to the sound of waves crashing on the shore and seagulls flying overhead.
We used up the rest of the daylight for photos of their wedding party, family and photos of the two of them – followed by a super fun grand entrance to the Bulls theme song. Vanessa and Brad were a sight to be seen on the dance floor, just having the time of their lives with their friends, and enjoying the bar 😉
Being in La Jolla for this Wedding at La Valencia was truly a treat, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to photograph there! Vanessa and Brad were the life of the party, and such a fun couple to work with. I am hoping the two move to the PNW soon so we can see each other again!
