My excitement for Katie and Scott’s Wedgewood Secret Garden Wedding this past January was at an all time high! You may recognize these two lovebirds from their engagement session in La Jolla this past December! I posted it all over my Instagram page.
When I first met Katie and Scott it was when I was in town in California for a wedding last December. These two decided to make a road trip for the weekend just for their photos and it was the most exciting thing ever! I am always flattered when couples who travel for me to take their photos, and it was totally worth it! After their photos we hung out and went to a pizza place for dinner! We just chatted and got to know each other, and I will never forget it.
Anyways, fast forward to their wedding day in January! I was so excited to be reunited with these two and to see them get to say I do in front of their closest friends and family! I have shot a wedding at the secret garden before for my friend Taylor and her husband Ryan. Small world but Katie found me because of Taylor–they both went to nursing school! She saw the photos I took at Taylor’s Wedgewood Secret Garden wedding and hired me right away!
We started the day with some very relaxed getting ready photos. Katie and Scott opted to not have a wedding party so it was just immediate family helping them get ready! I love the shots of their flower girl admiring Katie’s beautiful lace wedding dress while she got into it!
Katie and Scott did not want to do a first look, but they did want to exchange vows in private. We placed the two of them back to back in a private area for them to do what is commonly referred to as a “blind first look” and it was so precious!
Katie was a stunning bride as she came down the steps of Wedgewood Secret Garden as the ceremony began, and her soon to be husband could not help but get teary-eyed as her parents both walked her down the aisle. I do not think there was a dry eye in the crowd!!
After the wedding was over we took their family out front for photos, followed quickly by some stunning photos of the newlyweds all over the property! Some of my favorite photos are up on the balcony by the bridal suite with the two of them looking out at their ceremony area, and the guests enjoying cocktail hour!
Katie and Scott danced the night away at their reception indoors, and they shared a very sweet and intimate private last dance outside before their night ended.
I am so blown away by how beautiful this wedding turned out, and I can’t believe how much time has already passed! It feels like just yesterday I was celebrating The Normans!
