This stunning downtown elopement in Salem, Oregon was beyond my wildest dreams.
I am completely obsessed with this photo set of Kaleea and Devin’s downtown Salem elopement! I had been daydreaming about photographing a couple in an environment like this.
Eloping is becoming more and more popular in today’s day and age. In fact, I absolutely love photographing elopements. You can get married in a remote spot with an officiant and some witnesses to sign your marriage license like this coastal elopement. Or, you can go to a courthouse for the legal stuff and have a ceremony somewhere unique afterwards! Truly this day can be all about you and as spontaneous as you want it to be.
The Location
Downtown Salem really blew me away with all of its cute little shops and colorful architecture. We started off taking photos near Bentley’s Coffee and made our way around the block. There is a plant shop called Sun Bear Den across the street that I love and some of my favorite photos are in front of its windows. The owner of the store and its manager came outside and even offered to change their window arrangements to make it more photogenic. I was blown away by their hospitality! As we parted ways with their store, they gifted the couple a heart shaped succulent as a congratulations on their marriage. Devin was talking about how he loves plants just a few moments before this happened. It made his day!
Kaleea and Devin’s actual ceremony with friends and family will be on a 21 acre property in the woods. It was really fun getting a chance to photograph them in a completely different setting, and document what a downtown Salem elopement would truly look like. I highly recommend doing a session like this before or after your wedding! If you are interested in having your own unique elopement shoot, contact me here!
